Our heritage
The Shabak people possess a rich cultural heritage spanning centuries, and a unique language that carries within it the stories, wisdom, and traditions of generations. Our communities, concentrated mainly in the Nineveh Plain region, have preserved their distinct identity, contributing to the diverse cultural fabric of the Middle East.
Today, with globalization threatening and displacing many minority languages, our work has become even more important. We are not only preserving words, but also the worldviews, philosophies, and ways of understanding life unique to Shabak culture.
